Lisa & Chris

Away from their hectic New York City lifestyle, my good buddy Lisa and her beau Chris came out to San Francisco seeking a little R&R while playing tourist for a change of pace. Needless to say it was great seeing Lisa again, but how delightful it was to discover that Chris and I shared a mutal admiration for that vibrant field of sequential art. It was almost enough bliss to turn me gay, bu, alas, I’m forever preferential towards the kitty — instead I just simply enjoyed speaking our language of mutual nerdeness saddled with snickering inside humor.

The first night we hung out we had dinner at the Stinking Rose over in North Beach then later on we went down to Upper Haight to continue chating over some brews. On Saturday we ventured down to San Jose together to watch a “chinese-rock” musical-play about the “non-political” Asian-American dream called Making Tracks. Despite some general cornyness I thought the play/musical was kool overall, but unfortunately Lisa was expecting something a liiiiittle bit different…..however Chris managed to keep her spirits up with timely remarks such as “oh, was that the so-called Chinese-Rock?!”. Curiously, the two people sitting next to me never did make it back after the intermission. Later-on we chilled out in downtown San Jose kicking back some more pints over at some yuppie hipster looking bar which, strangely, was featuring the campy 60’s Batman movie on a projection screen admist all the eye candy passing by. Sadly though Lisa & Chris had to depart back to the east coast and a now I’m left alone to figure out exactly what does “real” chinese-rock sound like anyway?!

Ah, yes. I remember well. As always, it was always good to see Joe. He’s a great host. I especially loved witnessing Joe take pictures of people’s asses. I’m glad that my two men got along so well. Too bad the picture of you two grabbing each others butts didn’t come out. Gotta love the effects of Cali.
