Replaced the car battery (FINALLY!)

I was too much of a lazy bastard to replace my obviously dead car battery up until this afternoon. For the past 5 weeks I’ve been jumping the car with a self-powered jumper kit b/c I didn’t want to deal with taking the car to the mechanic. I’m broke, it’s hard to schedule something during the week, and I don’t need to use the car so much these days now that I commute to work — these were my main excuses to delay the inevitable. But the other day I finally got tired of having to jump the car EVERY TIME I needed to use it; I broke down, went to the autoshop and bought a replacement. But to save some extra dough I installed the dang thing myself, which was a nerve-racking first for me. All during a brief drizzle of rain outside of a Target parking lot, which is where I parked the car to pick up a much needed set of wrenches to unbolt the dead battery. With much relief the new battery works like a charm. And now I feel like a macho stud-monkey….mostly because I managed not to electrocute myself. ![]()
