Last Order Vol.#5

Wow! it seemed like a year has past since volume 4 came out but Battle Angel Alita: Last Order Vol. 5 was released domestically not too long ago and of course I had to get my hands on the latest tale of my favorite cyborg by Yukito Kishiro.

The story unfolds with Alita prerparing to enter battle in the Z.O.T. Tournament with a revamped Sechs as they attempt to save her friend Lou’s brain. But along the way Alita faces a dilemma and must make a hard choice about what’s more important to her and learn to accept the consequences of the “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” scenario she has to choose. From what I can dig up on the net, I’m seeing that Volume 6 won’t be released until November 1st, with Volume 7 probably not shipping until April 2006.

I noticed that Yukito Kishiro is introducing new characters that were actually submissions from fan sketches. He’s encouraging people to send in their ideas and if he likes them he’ll bring them to life in future stories. So far there’s been about 6 of these type of fan submitted characters introduced. Is this a brilliant interactive marketing ploy or just a lazy man’s writing block?! I’m undecided on that one…..
