WOW!
My homegirl Jazzy finally got hitched and avoided turning into the old maid that she always dreaded becoming.
The ceremony was held at a beautiful outdoor facility in Rosyln Harbor, out in Long Island…and the day couldn’t have been more perfect with ideal temperature and one of the clearest blue skies I have ever seen. Really. And I finally got to meet her boyfriend/fiance-now-husband Michael for the very 1st time; It was good to be able to put a name to a face at last.
What made the day even extra special was that I was finally able to track down Gabriel and bring his butt to the ceremony, a-la last minute wedding crasher style. Gabe and Barbara looked great, especially on such short notice, and he even hooked me up with one of his ties since my dumb-ass forgot mine back in California.
(I still looked fly regardless)
Funny side note was that Jasmine’s older brothers didn’t hardly recognized Gabe and myself but we hammed it up with them despite their alzheimers and even got to chat with Keisha and her little one (she was the Maid of Honor) who I haven’t seen since a “Sex In The City’ type lunch near Wall Street several years ago. Unfortunately I had to leave the wedding a bit earlier than expected (see I should’ve went solo to read why) but it was great to see Jasmine get hitched in style and bear witness to the beginning of a new and wonderful chapter in her life.

[...] After spending the past 5 days back in the Big Apple I got to reflect on the latest visit back to my hometown. Inspired to attend the wedding of my childhood friend Jasmine I got to reconnect with Gabriel and the Odens as well as spend some time with the family most notably Nelly, Estela, Bobby and his cats, all up in the ol’ neighborhood. Kathy was originally suppose to be my date for the wedding but got stuck having to work that day, so we just chit-chatted at the Underground Comedy club for a bit. I ran into Douglas a few times while chilling at some of my mom’s old haunts, and it basically evolved into chilling with complete, but very kool, strangers every other night. Hands down some of the best fun I’ve had in a long while. I even randomly reconnected with Anna who I first befriended 5 years ago, yet we grew up right across the street from each other but never meet prior to our early twenties. Weird. [...]
