Southsiders can rejoice as it’s now official: The 2005 Chicago White Sox are World Series Champions!
It’s their first championship since 1917 , a title drought of 88 years. They swept the World Series 4-0 against the NL champ Houston Astros who were making their first appearance to the big game in their ball club’s 43 year history. The sweep is misleading because all the games were really close, but, with the exception of Andy Pettite, the Astros pitching just didn’t come through when they needed it most.
That’s super kool that Venezuelan White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was able to go out on top - but now he’s considering returning next year so he can manage the AL All-Star game. I’m happy for the White Sox and their fans, and I know several of my southside peeps are enjoying this!
Last thing: considering the Boston Red Sox won the World Series last year, ending 86 years of futility for that franchise, could the Chicago Cubs, who haven’t won since 1908, be soon next to see glory!?

Props to the second city. Two “SOX” sweeps in two years. I am starting to feel the futility of the National League. Mind you, I picked SWEEP, when the Sox beat Los Angeles, umm…Anahiem…umm…DAMN whatever!!! Those guys.
And PLEASE let’s not call it close. Regardless of how you call it, a SWEEP is never close.
Now Reinsdorf has Championships for both of his Pro Teams.

My goodness!!!86, 88 years for these two teams to finally win the big one. It goes to show you every dog has its day. Even if it takes 31390 and 32120 days respectfully. New Yorkers and Yankees fans can’t wait that long. The boss is going to break one off in someone’s ass if a championship is not produced soon.
