Italian “virgin” verdict is shameful

Apparently in Italy, unless you’re a virgin, it’s less of a serious matter if you’re a teen-aged girl molested by your step-father. In a recent case, that’s what the Supreme Court based their rulling on to lower the sentence of a sex-crimes offender on trial, who has yet to serve anytime in jail due to his appeals during the past four years.
Question: What kind of world do we live in when a sex offender is given a lighter sentence due to a victim’s previous sexual experiences?
I’m sorry, but, 14 years old is still 14 years old! So what if the young teen-aged girl is already sexually active?! How does that minimize in any way the actions of her step-father who, after being refused sexual intercourse by the girl, forced oral sex from her?! Besides the fact that the deed is just wrong in itself, but what about the extra consideration of the parent-child dynamic here… isn’t that still sacred? Maybe it’s just me, but even if it’s a step-child you inherit from a marriage, doesn’t that step-parent have an undeniable obligation to tend to the child’s physical well-being as well as their emotional development? So then what message does it send when a group of justices declare that by virtue of the victim’s previous sexual experiences her molester is less punishable for his crime???
Sounds to me that the Italian Supreme Court is just as irresponsible and shameful as the step-father was, and they are a disgrace to both sexual abuse victims and the general public worldwide.
