80/20 Principle

Maybe it was the gaudy cover that first caught my eye, but I recently read this book by Richard Koch which reference’s Pareto’s Principle. Basically it outlines how 80% of effects stem from 20% of the causes and how this insight can be utilized primarily in business, but also in other areas of life. Ironically enough the 80/20 rule also applies to the book itself in that you can get 80% of the concepts from 20% of the pages. Basically just read the first two chapters and the last one as everything else inbetween is just redundant.

Overall, I thought the book had some useful points and I do think it’s a worthwhile read but I wouldn’t buy it. Rather, I’m sure you can borrow a copy from your local library and then xerox what you need.
