Pluto Demoted

Now there are just eight planets in our solar system now that the IAU has announced the official recommendations from a panel of scientists to strip Pluto of it’s planetary status due to a new definition of what contitutes a planet I doubt anyone else in the genral give a crap about this stuff, but I find the subject intriguing. I’m a nerd like that.
But really, there would have been 12 planets under the earlier proposal with a door swinging wide open for dozens, if not hundreds, of new planets to be added to list of current planets. And that prospect would have been scientificially insane and impractical. Besides, it’s not like the New Horizons probe is going to be turned around because of this re-categoration and stop future dwarf planets from being discovered and explored.
Lots of Pluto adoring 5 year olds will be sad about this I’m sure, but life will go on and for the better I think. Just maybe not for the likes of Tom Cruise for some time.
