Poland

Not only did I venture to Polska, but I managed to visit three distinct areas of the country traveling to Warsaw, Kraków, and Zakopane. The entire time I chilled out with my fellow LCC classmate Aga and her boyfriend DerrickDarek and they certainly have no problems traveling the countryside for a weekend getaway.

After taking a quick tour of Warsaw on my first day in we headed south to Zakopane, which is just beautifully scenic farmland. Our first night in we initially had trouble locating our accommodations, but when we finally did we were greeted with a warm meal made mom & pop style by one of the kindest persons I’ve ever meet. The next morning we ate a hearty country breakfast, and explored the rural landscape for a bit before heading up to Kracow, picking out and chomping on some wild mushrooms along the way.

In Kraków, where it’s more lively than in Warsaw, we mostly walked around the main square while getting our fill on good beer and atmosphere. We checked out the Wawel Cathedral and the Fire Breathing Dragon before heading back to Warsaw.

On my last day I checked out the Palace of Culture & Science before heading over to Łazienki Park as my last hoorah until I needed to get to the airport. Though it was a short trip it was a blast thanks to Aga & DerrickDarek and got to experience so much more of Poland with them than I would have otherwise.

Highlights:
001. Aga’s driving
002. Drinking fresh cows’ milk
003. Kraków T-shirts
004. Chilling with Aga & Asia
005. Derrick’s Darek’s dinner

Wow… talking about jealous!! I lived in Warsaw (and J, the reason why Warsaw is not as “lively” as you said is because I am not there!!) I love Łazienki Park that’s where I used to go and play when I was little and Palace of Culture (Pałac Kultury) is a place when I used to go to my dancing class during early teenage years. I hope you enjoyed your stay, and I KNOW you said hi to my PEEPS!!!

Excellent recap and photos Jamie, it took me back to my visit there with my grandmother in 2003. Wonderful country, loved the buildings, countryside and people…though the food was very difficult for me as a vegan, and the language is quite daunting.
