Gnarls Barkley,
St. Elsewhere

It’s been way too long since I did an album review, but I finally got around to sitting down with the LP from Gnarls Barkley titled “St. Elsewhere” and I was completely blown away!
Such depth of rhythm & soul, and very smart lyrics which are nothing short of brilliant. It’s hard to define the album and that’s part of what makes it so great, and it’s originalty will certainly carve it’s longevity. If you haven’t heard “Crazy” or “Smiling Faces”, among other standouts, then you are really missing the bus on what should be unquestioned as the album of the year.
Check out some of these videos:
Crazy - best song of the year. Period.
Smiling Faces - the deepest lyrics I’ve heard in a long while.
Transformer - OMG, featuring a break dancing soundwave!

dude, you’ve been gone too long. that stuff is so last winter around around here. your right though - good tunes. your gonna have to change what your “listening” to now.

Luke is right.
Gnarls Barkley “Crazy” has been here for awhile. A song called “London Bridge” seems to be the “It” song here in the states right now (that song not as good). I suppose you’ll wait a while to here that one too.

“Gone Daddy Gone” (a Violent Femmes cover) and “Crazy” are great songs. I didn’t care much for the rest of the album. If you want to check out a really great album, check out “Controversy” by this up and coming artist known as Prince.

Okay, fine, so I’ve been “out of the loop” on this one but still, it’s a dope album “old” or new. Bite my chunk “Prince”.

This is quite easily a candidate for album of the year. yOU guys got the release over there before we got it in the states JJP. Cee-Lo (formerly of Atlanta’s GooDie MOb) and Danger Mouse (formerly of Athens GA, by way of NY. DAMN Atlanta is just dropping great things, huh?) came together to create this masterpiece. “St. Elsewhere,” and “Just A Thought,” are two gems out of this well produced project. And the fact that they bankrolled it allowed for them to work without the Record exec sitting over them and making changes (as evidenced by Cee-lo 2 solo albums).
JJP, I’m just glad you FINALLY got on this one.
