Postcard Fair

This Friday the 13th was probably one of the scariest ones I’ve ever experienced: I ventured over to the annual BIPEX postcard fair this afternoon in connection to my masters’ thesis project. No offense intended but this is really a very particular hobby which just seems to attract some strange and eccentric characters to say the least.
And a surreal experience it was. Easily I was one of the youngest people in the entire place by 15 years, no lie. But it was an eye opener regarding the depth of subject matter that has been covered within a postcard format. There were some really nice cards for sale but I couldn’t believe that some were commanding up to £150 just for one!
I almost bought this mosaic set of Napoleonic postcards but the stuffy French people running the booth selling it were behaving like a sorry bunch of purtain de merde and basically turned me off by acting like they didn’t understand what I was saying when I simply inquired how much the set of cards cost. Otherwise, most of the vendors were nice and reasonable to approach.

–> This one of the London Underground was nice too.
