TA week 4: Color Names
October 23rd, 2006
Filed Under: England, The Usual Rant

This week’s session involved reviewing a homework assignment in which the students were set out to research a color they were given, come up with three shades of that color and create a name for each of the shade.
The purpose of the assignment was to get them more familiar with the associations and connotations inherit with a given color as well as further their understanding of basic design concepts and develop their critical thinking skills. Because there’s over 60+ students in this class Cathy & I divided the group into two groups with her instructing one half and me instructing the other.
Most of the students got on just fine with the work and we had them work in smaller groups to best make use of their time and efforts with the excercise. One student in particular had a hard time with their color of chocolate and I tried my best to keep ‘em encouraged and focus on the task at hand and hopefully it worked. We’ll see next week when they are all sippose to refine the project further incorporating a product to associate with their color-name project.
