MA-genta Exhibition

After twelve long months of studies, tonight was our crowning moment of glory. Both graduating sets of part-time and full-time MAGD students were on hand for our joint exhibition opening at LCC to end the year and celebrate our achievements. Plenty of beer, wine and attendees were available to exhange well wishes and talk shop about each of our respective projects.

The full-timers decided to do a series of posters in magenta & black offering a snapsot of our final projects; mine was about postcards and it’s contemporary cultural relevance. Some notable projects included Sara’s swear words, Dave’s lying, Mira’s sound scultpture, Spyros trolley system, Shingo’s body parts, and Claire’s letterpress exploration. Everyone chipped in to help get the show curated, posters trimmed, flyers printed, and supplies ready all on time with just a few days to do it all and in the end it really looked great!

Dimitri’s parents flew in from Greece to see their son’s work; it was their first time in London. It was also nice to see a lighter side of the tutors and to chat with some of the other faculty stopping by for a peek. Alex Cooper stopped by, along with Teal Triggs, and Sian Cook among others. The typographic guru Paul Antonio even graced us with his presence and I had the distinct privilege to chat him up for several minutes.

All in all, it was a great way to end the year and I’m really truly happy for everyone’s accomplishments. We each had our ups & downs and doubts throughout the year but in the end all the effort, sweat and tears paid off I think.

Congratulations to you all!!!
