Salisbury

On their last full day here in London Bobby, Grandma and myself took a day bus tour along the English country side. Somehow before we’re even on the bus, Bobby manages to get banned from one of Victoria station’s coffee shops for requesting a refund for what he felt was terrible coffee. Well, uh, err….yeah.

Our first stop is the Salisbury Catherdal, in Salisbury, where one of four copies of the Magna Carta exsits, the best preserved one being here. However for some reason it wasn’t on display for us today so we didn’t get to actually see it. But we did manage to sneak a peek of the city itself and have a traditional English lunch with a heavy serving of mash potatoes and free range pork sausage links. I’m still feeling it sit in my stomach as I type…ugh.

The next stop on the bus tour was Stonehenge. I was here last during easter and just like then the day was overcast and chilly. Grandma wasn’t feeling the “grandeur” of the famous rock formation and so from a distance she looked, said “yeah, ok, whatever…” and headed to the gift shop to hang out and stay warm. Meanwhile Bobby circled the landmark with his audio guide and took some pictures to prove that he too didn’t understand the purpose of Stonehenge served other than to bookmark a motorway in the near distance.

To end the bus tour we headed over to the city of Bath to visit the Roman Baths. This was the second time I’ve visited the place and it was just as enlightening as the first time I visited here. Grandma got to thinking that if they could do all that stuff back then with the heat distribution and such, then why are we stuck with such inefficient home energy use today?! Hmmmm….

Anyways, it was great to have both Bobby and grandma visit during the holidays. It’s too bad that is was mostly chilly and overcast during their stay. Still, it was fun watching playing tourist with them. Before they arrived I hadn’t visitied any of those places we saw together in London so in one sense it was nice to experience it the first time around with them. Some of the highlights included watching strangers try to flirt with grandma on the tube and kicking back the brews with Bobby, even if he was acting like a bonehead most of the time.

Miss you both already.
