Bay Area round-up

My first trip back to San Francisco since I left for London last year has been a good breath of fresh air. I even got to reconnect with some familiar faces from MCAD like Sarah Napp out in the mission and Helena Keeffe (below) over at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Of course I caught up with family too, as well as my former co-workers over at Adteractive.

But as I close my trek out here in California, I’ve started to really contemplate the possibility that I may no longer live in the golden state anymore, and thus I’m starting to find myself missing it already. Eight years ago I would have never imagined living here, and now eight years later I can’t believe I’m actually considering not returning. I think what I’ll miss most about Cali are the people I’ve come to know and have gotten close with. And they’ll always be part of the reason why I venture back, since California is too special of a place not to visit every now and then.

So as I press onward in this life I just wanted to pay homage to the state that’s nurtured me in a countless number of ways. Certainly there have been plenty of ups & downs during my time out here, but the good times always outweighed the bad by far. Therefore because of that, even though I’m a native son of New York City, and always will be, I know no matter where I land next I’ll bring just as much of that NY grit as I will these “westsiiiide” sensibilities I find myself carrying in me too now.

Peace out California… for now at least.
