I braved the theaters this weekend to checkout the film adaptation of this classic ’70’s comic book superhero. I was perversely curious as to how it would translate to the big screen and I have to admit, it wasn’t as bad as I expected. Then again, I had no expectations and I was with Rey & Co. to help mock the film whenever it was necessary.
The special effects were really good, specifically animating the motorcycle, the flaming skull and rope chain. Nicholas Cage did a good job playing Johnny Blaze, however the movie’s overall plot was weak and the main villian was a joke. In fact, I almost died from laughter from the antics of most of the weakass supporting characters. Eva Mendes was great eye candy, but the film sure didn’t ask her to do much acting and boy did she deliver that in spades! Sam Elliot made a cameo (I love that dude) and because of this I won’t sink the movie too hard.
*sigh*
Still, I’m guessing it’ll be out on DVD within 4 months because I guarantee that this crap ain’t staying in the box-office for too much longer.
