Elephant & Castle

Enjoy it while it’s still there!
This is the infamous icon of the Elephant & Castle shopping center here in London. It also happens to be a hop, skip and a jump from where I went to art school.
The area is steadily revitalizing itself and the shopping center is doomed to be demolished in favor of more attractive office spaces and residental dwellings. It’s also a key nexus point for the mass transit system of the city and was one of the first places to have an Underground tube station in service south of the Thames River. Apparently, there are also plans to completely remove the subways at the south roundabout, of which I don’t think most people will miss too much, aside from the kool murals on display.
