Transformers

WOW!

I celebrated America’s birthday today by going to the theaters and coming into this movie with aboslutely NO EXPECTATIONS — I was also anticipating how actor/musician Tyrese would pan out in the flick, trying to figure out what the hell he was doing in it at all. I must admit, I was very impressed from start to finish how this live action version of one of my favorite hobbie of toys came to life on the big screen.

I thought the story was cohesive and overtall plausible, well paced, very witty, offered a little bit of everythig for a broad demographic audience to enjoy, had plenty of action and kool effects without taking itself too seriously. And of course the original voice of Optimus Prime was casted (Peter Cullen) which just not only appeases the fanboys but also ups the koolness factor of the film. Megan Fox was smoking H-O-T, even the chicks were saying so! and Shia LaBeouf was great as one of the main human protagonists of the story. Even the typical Michael Bay cinematic shots were pulled off well. Transformers is easily one of this summer’s best blockbuster movies!

Sure, Bumblebee wasn’t a VW bug, but they played plenty of homage to the old look at the dealship when Sam was buying his first car and the bumblebee air-freshener hanging inside the robot’s mustang interior. And sure, even the black robot gets killed (Jazz) but that’s just “keeping it real”… besides Megatron got his at the end, remember?! And yes, some ‘formers were made up for the live movie only (like the Decepticon police car) and they had some weird robot designs (Frenzy sucked) but clearly this wasn’t going to be a throwback to ’80’s cartoon so I can live with all that since in the overall scheme of things, everything was visually satisfying.

It was awesome until the cars started talking. That was totally unrealistic.

This is undoubtedly the biggest piece of turd.

Michael Bay needs to have his directing privileges provoked.
