Open House for TSFIM

Open House

After Eric sent me a super kool mailer announcing the date for his studio’s open house how could I say no? So I trekked over to Brooklyn to check out The Studio For Interactive Media and to catch up with some familiar faces from my college days. Lots of MCAD alumni were representing and it was great to chat with Keetra Dixon, Josh Walton and Justin Bakse again as it’s been years since I saw them last. Even better to see that they’re all doing really well, either just finished with graduate school themselves or setting up their own studios. And yes these Mid-Westerners (and 1 Alaskan) are now all living in Brooklyn, along with Miki Araki, Keiko & Eric Ishii Eckhardt.

Some of the things that stood out during the evening were Keetra’s new tatoos, Eric’s forehead battle wound, and Justin filling out his frame. Things that were amazingly the same was Josh’s hair.

Word.

Last, but not least was the studio space itself which is located in a more industrial area of Kings County and the setup inside was nice, the front entrance had a live motion projection that you could wave your hand infront of to move your name across the screen, along with a backroom for old skool woodcutting accessories as well as the sweet computer equipment Eric, Justin and their two other studio members use to produce all of their kool interactive design work on. Even the a/c was a nice touch…but probably more out of necessity though.

As a closing note I just want to say that I “hate” Eric & Justin because they are so frigging good at what they do. Now that I know where you all live you can count on me stalking your asses regularly. But most importantly, thanks for always being an inspiration to me!

Josh now has a red headed clone? Start of a new hair/beard fashion trend… ;)

Congrats to Eric and Justin on the new studio.
