Why I’m not a Mets fan

The 2007 version of the Mets stay true to historical form.
As unbelievable as it is for Mets fans, it’s not for me. You see, I grew up in New York not liking the Mets for one very simple reason: THEY SUCK! Even when they’re suppose to win, THEY STILL SUCK! And even when they’re good, yep, THEY SUCK EVEN MORE!
Really.
Only a ball club like the New York Mets can allow a 7 game lead in their divison to completely evaporate. Not only did they lose the NL East pennant, but they missed out on the playoffs all together. And they lost to teams down the stretch that they had no business losing to at all. A Met fan’s reaction? Surprised, bewildered, flabbergasted. Me? Not surpirsed — not it the least.
This is the way of the Mets. Just when you think they couldn’t stink it up any more they find a new way to enlighten you on just how it can be done. This is why I could never be a true supporter of this team, not as a kid, not as a teenager, not as an adult — because they always manage to lower your already low expectations of them.
Blame Willie Randolph all you want for their recent historic pennant collapse, or whomever on the playing field, but the fact is these are the Mets. No matter how much money they spend on free-agents, and no matter which high-caliber type players they acquire, they’ll always have the stink of being the Mets.
And that sadly has always been their problem.

Man NY loves Baseball History.
These Muts, the Yankees historic colossal collapse when up 3-0 against the hated BoSox. Man, just think, they Yankees were on the the verge of history this year, with one game they would have been part of the FIRST ever First Round SWEEP. Damn, they had to go and mess that up.

Unlike Atlanta, at least my city’s pro teams has a real chance to win, or at least be competitive on a regular basis.
