a Manhattan night out

Filed Under: Adventures & Travels, NYC, friends

Last night I experienced a handful of adventures while hanging out with friends on both the lower & upper ends of Manhattan. That’s one of the things I really enjoy about living back in New York is the ease in which you can traverse the city. Of course the current state of the subways’ schedules is something of a downer after midnight, but that’s a topic for another time.
Anyway, the first half of my evening was spent in China-town where I meet up with my good buddy Lisa Chan who was celebrating quitting her hellish job (FINALLY!) of these last 4+ years over at a karaoke joint called Winnie’s just south of Canal street.
Along with her indomitable man-stud Chris Brown a good turnout of Lisa’s entourage of friends and former co-workers showed up to sent her off in style and help Lisa bask in the glory of soon joining the ranks of the unemployed. Not only did I see one of the cooliest fruit plants I have ever laid eyes upon, but I also got to meet her dad for the first time and he proved wise by ducking out BEFORE the karaoke craze started to take full swing in the bar.
A bit later on I meet up with Sara back on the Upper West Side to grab some dinner at Jackson Hole which has some of the biggest & best burgers in town. Jason eventually meet up with us looking for a little Saturday night fun so we headed over to 420 Bar & Lounge on 80th street.
As Sara endured my usual yikitty-yak leave it to Jason to make the night memorable with his usual antics. But his ultimate show-stopper was saved for chatting up one of the bars’ patrons in one of the most self-absorbed public displays of titillation I’ve witness in a long while. Even as all of this is unfolding in front of our table a Canadian bachelor party right behind us was also enjoying the “show” and taking pictures of their own. Only Jason. Only in New York.
And I have a funny feeling that it’ll be a while before this nights’ adventure is out-done.

Sara
All I have to say is that she looked a little “too comfortable” doing that
