Happy Thankstaking!

As we take time today to pay our gratitude for all the good things & people we have in our lives I hope we also don’t lose sight of the other side of this national holiday, a perspective which all too often gets overlooked with little, if any, mention made of it. It’s not a pretty picture that other side of the story, but the full truth of today’s national holiday shouldn’t prevent any of us from taking a moment of honest reflection about what actually matters most in this life: family, friendship, humility and love.
I’m grateful for each and every last one of you.

Hey Joseph, thanks for the words and your thoughts. I hope this day is as much for you as you wish it to be for us.

It’s always surreal for me to be on the other side of the world this time of year. Thanksgiving has always been my favourite holiday because of what you just said - being grateful for all the important things in our lives. Everyday should be Thanksgiving…
Eat extra veggies for me (no turkey as I’m vegetarian again!)

“honest reflection”…I like that… 58 million turkeys were slaughtered last year in this country…
I ate squash and green beans…it was delicious…

Well put Joseph. Thank you for thinking of us! Funny, people that make those big dinners with love, welcome their family with open arms are the same people that go next day on friday morning at 6am and throw elbows with others just to save some buck.

i’d like to give thanks to the guy who hunted the turkey, the guy who killededed it and the guy who plucked it. the guy who cut its head off and the guy that packaged it. then i’d like to give thanks to my friends sister who cookeded it and then sent me home a plate b/c i was at work cleaning other people’s parents asses.
but most of all thanks to mama and papa turkey who made all the turkeys we consume on this day of many thanks.
and thanks joe for letting me share this with you. i needed to get it off my chest.
love ya.

How was Thanksgiving? As a native american (1/8th), I don’t really give a shit that the white man took my country. The same with 1/2 German in me that should be pissed we lost 2 world wars to the same Americans. That’s why the 1/4th of the Irish in me tells me to drink a lot of beer to celebrate because the Americans haven’t done shit to us yet.

As always, your commentary on Thanksgiving, and the back story about this holiday is always worth hearing about. Thanks for sharing your inner workings. auni
