Guantanamo petition at Columbia University

I happened to be cutting through Columbia University’s campus today when I noticed some students with a clever setup protesting the use of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
On the left of this cage was a desk to sign a petition to close down the base and release prisoners that haven’t been charged with a crime. Inside the cage was a mock hooded prisoner answering questions as to why he’s being detained and the need to respect international laws and human rights. Along the cage on the ground were sheets of 8.5″x11″ paper with the names of all the prisoners being questionably held in the prison and there were several hundred names from what I glanced.
So, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock these past few years, I’m sure you’ve heard of this issue in the news, but if you would like some more info on the matter check out Amnesty’s website regarding torture and the subversion of international law.
