Giant Imperfection

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mercury Morris and the ‘72 Dolphins can rest easy now.
The New England Patriots came into the Superbowl undefeated at 18-0, trying to cap off their perfect season with one last victory in which they set all kinds of league records and generated plenty of talk about them possibly being the greatest NFL team ever.
Then came the New York Giants, just 10-6 in the regular season, and Big Blue delivered one of the greatest upsets in all of sports. Tom Brady was sacked 5 times while Eli Manning eluded what looked to be a certain sack by two defenders to find David Tyree midfield who made a circus catch OFF HIS HELMET IN MID-AIR (foto 1, foto 2, foto 3) to keep the game winning drive alive. A couple of plays later, Manning hits Plaxico Burress with a screen fake for the touchdown. Beautiful!
The game was really great from start to finish on both sides of the ball, as 97 million television viewers apparently witnessed as well making Superbowl XLII the highest rated Superbowl ever.
Some quotable quotes after the game:
“I don’t know if he got rattled, but he did get grass stains.”
— Giants LB Antonio Pierce, referring to the defense played on Patriots quaterback Tom Brady.“They had a nice 18-0 start.”
— Giants WR Amani Toomer“It came down to one play and we made it.”
— Giants WR Plaxico Burress referring to teammate David Tyree’s phenomenal game saving catch.“That play alone took a few years off my life.”
— Giants DE Micheal Strahan, regarding David Tyree’s circus catch.
No matter how many times you see it the video of David Tyree’s catch is just unbelievable!

I swear, on that last drive of the game I was damn near a heart attack from all the anxiety it generated. But in the end the Giants came through, and I couldn’t have been any happier with the way it all played out. Especially since a New York pro team finally got a significant measure of revenge against all those Boston-area pros & fanatics basking in recent glory.
18-1. Copyright that, Pats!

I may be glowing for totally different reasons - I loved seeing the Pats stopped in their tracks, loved seeing Brady sacked over and over - but I haven’t been able to get the stupid grin off my face all day. Big Brother is still my favorite, but Little Brother did all right for himself, turning this season around.
I was watching ESPN at the gym at lunch, and they just kept playing the Tyree catch over and over … amazing.
My attire for yesterday:

And one of my favorite memories of the day:

BTW, am I the only one who thinks Belichick is a classless jerk for dashing into the tunnel before the game was officially over? Did he not want anyone to see him crying or something?

What a difference 2 last minutes can make. Thank you NY for showing us what happens to cheaters.

Yes, that was a classless bitch-move by spy-gate master Bill Belichick. He’s supposed to be a leader of men, so as you win graciously, you lose graciously. What a cry baby Belichump was.
And while we’re at it, Joe Buck is the biggest NY hater on the planet, nor can I stand his commentating, dear god can somebody yanked him off the air and just slap a muzzle on his punk-ass already.
BTW, I just LOVED your attire there Barb! Talk about creative improv.
Lastly, one last dig at them Cowboys:

Who needs football when spring training is just around the bend. I need me some boys of summer!

…aside from a furious case of stomach indigestion, it was one of the best SuperBowl games ever… Finally NY on top. F*ck Boston!

‘86 Giants, great day in Giants History
‘90 Giants, great day in Giants History
‘00 Giants, painful day in Giants History
These Giants, blah. I have no emotional attachment to the Eli/Plax version of the Giants.
Hate to say it, but I would have rather had seen history and have somebody shut up those Grumpy Old Men in South Florida.

You told me you were a Jets/mets man!
you said Giants/yanks were what was wrong with the nytathaC.
I supported the Giants, cause I loved seeing the pats go down. But it shoulda been my Packers there!!

Honesty, I don’t know who the hell “dunk” is or recongnize their unrealistic email (hoggie@hogwash.pig) but anyone who knows me sports-wise, knows I AM NOT a fan of any NY pro-team ending in “ets”, so naturally that extends to the Nets, Jets, and Mets.
And, sorry, but if the Packers made it to the Superbowl then the Pats would be 19-0 right now. Instead Mercury Morris & Co. get to enjoy exclusive perfection for one more year:
