Aram at IDEO

After not seeing fellow talented MCAD alumn Aram Armstrong in many years I finally caught up with him in the flesh, along with his wife Ghi, over by IDEO where he currently works on interactive design projects to help pay those proverbial bills. Not too shabby! The studio is HUGE and very impressive, practically every designer’s dream work environment, even the bathrooms are super kool!
IDEO’s S.F. headquaters is located at Pier 28 just under the Oakland Bay Bridge. I didn’t realize Aram was traveling all over the world these past several years living, working and studying in places like Italy and Korea so it was fun trading some stories about our world hopping adventures along with the usual MCAD related news. Ghi was really sweet and funny, and she was even nice enough not to laugh at my recent Gocco prints I showed them… I haven’t drawn in years!
Before I went on my way Aram showed me his company issued phone which also happens to be the one used on the popular television show The West Wing and gave me a copy of the latest IDEO brochure featuring an assorted bundle of postcards of recent project work by the design firm. Time always seems to be at a premium when trying to catch up with folks, but I very much appreciated Aram & Chi Ghi carving out some of their spare time to hang out with me while I’m town.

Jamie, you misspelled Ghi at the end.

Good eye Kevin! See correction above.
And many apologies for the oversight Ghi.
