Mike Jakab in the SoMa studio

Today I ventured down near the Civic Center to meet up with Mike Jakab at his new studio just south of Market street. It still has only been a couple months since I first heard news that him & Lisa Prescott are expecting their first child this April, so of course I had to see them while I was town and give them high praise on their ability to multiple. ;-)

Unfortunately, much to my disappointment, Lisa couldn’t make it out (bullsh*t… cough, cough…), something to do with being pregnant and getting freaked out by people wanting to rub her belly all the time, so it was just Mike & I as we rapped for a spell discussing their latest project that they just finished up for a video game commercial and catching up on all the life stuff in general.

“Oh, yeah, it’s gonna be a guy!”

That was word for word Mike’s response when I asked him if he & Lisa wanted to know the gender of their baby prior to birth. I nearly pissed myself laughing. Clearly they’re excited to be parents, and they’ll be good ones too. Plus they could use the extra labor force as their studio is super spacious now with a much improved setup than from their last one I saw last year over near the Mission. It’s great to see that they’re doing very well running their own show (Agency:Collective) and Mike even gave me a complimentary copy of the latest a:c studio brochure as a going away gift. I swear, it’s people like Mike & Lisa that really force schleps like me to keep it together least I be a stain on their professional/personal inner circle. All I had to show Mike was my recent London Gocco prints I’ve been working on, just peanuts compared to what they can pull off.

Anyway, as always it’s great to shoot the breeze with Mike J. and hopefully Lisa has lots of fun with the baby shower this coming weekend; I’ll be down in L.A. by then but will be thinking about you both. Don’t be too long to send me some photos after the “guy” is born, okay?

“Oh, yeah, it’s gonna be a guy” is just too Mike! I can hear him saying that for some reason. Lisa should back hand anyone up side the head that touches her stomach without her permission! No one should do that to a pregnant woman.

I hope they are able to stay afloat once “the guy” is born.
Babies require a lot of time and effort. Besides the whole lack of sleep thing. But, well worth everything it takes! Congratulations, to Mike and Lisa! Happy Baby!

Jamie, you have accomplished nothing! YOU are such a loser! I mean, really! What is a Masters degree in the whole grand scheme????? Listen, mister, you are doing AWESOME! Your work on ETSY, so don’t down play your stuff! Alright?! Later, Baby.
