“12 Months in London” Gocco postcard set

12 months in London logo

After several months of production officially over I’m proud to finally announce the debut of an original set of screen-prints I’ve been working on collectively titled “12 Months In London“. Each postcard features a different topic of interest ranging from things such as riding the tube, living in South East London, trying British cuisines, hanging out at pubs, spotting famous Britons, and a bunch of other tongue-in-cheek observations as well.

Each set is a limited edition of 200, with one postcard representing each month of a calendar year, all produced with my Gocco B6 printer. Also included in the set is a checklist and a 16-page companion booklet explaining each of the prints in more detail.

What was the motivation to tackle such a bear of a project?

The main driving force was a combination of nostalgia and a worthy challenge as I thought it would be fun to document my eye-opening adventures in the United Kingdom as a series of postcards. Before this project I never produced an edition greater than 75 with the Gocco system, and certainly not a series of prints either, so these were all firsts for me, and an ambitious first at that. And mind you I haven’t properly drawn in YEARS yet half of the set features original illustrations by yours truly, so that was fun too.

It also provided a rich learning experience for me because along the way I couldn’t help but refine my Gocco-ing techniques learning to do things more efficiently, cutting down on waste, getting a more familiar with each gocco ink’s level of viscosity (I hate using large areas of red now, it’s such a pain), and I developed better ways to register my prints much more consistently then in the past with the B6 printer.

backside of prints

In total 25 prints were produced (12 double-sided postcards + the checklist, which has a blank backside) and each print & booklet is individually numbered and sealed together in a cellophane bag. You can get your hands on one of these badboys by visiting my Etsy shop here:

Lastly, I’d be remiss not to express a massive THANK YOU to everyone who assisted me in some way with portions of this project, whether through collective brainstorming, responding to my email questionnaires, purchasing my prints, or simply telling me to finish the set already, it’s all been very helpful & encouraging and you all know who you are.

edition numbers

Let me know what you think of the project either from what you see here online (click on the above images for a bigger view) or from actually having the set in hand to review; and I know, I know, the photos don’t do the metallic inks enough justice.
