Lakers vs Celtics in the 21st century, plus other NBA rants

My goodness it’s like the 80’s all over again for the NBA finals, except this time they’ll sport new faces in the latest installment of the Lakers vs. Celtics rivalry (remember the video game?) with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce taking on Kobe Bryant and a bunch of other Lakers I can’t even name outside of flop-master Derrick Fisher.
Meanwhile, my East L.A. homeslice Chad is already making me eat my words about predicting back in February that the Lakers wouldn’t get past San Antonio in the playoffs, let alone reach the NBA finals. I must admit now the Lakers are looking really good, and that trade for Pau Gasol has been nothing short of a gem pick up for the purple & gold. However, I am a K.G. fan, and I’d honestly like to see him win a championship, but the dilemma for me is that then I’ll have to endure other Boston pro-sports team championship victory and as a native New Yorker that just seems unbearable… ugh… which brings me to my next point:
Damn you Detroit Pistons!
I actually was cheering for Mo’ Town to win it all and look what they did by choking against Boston! Speaking of that, things ain’t looking too great for Rasheed Wallace to return to the Pistons with the winds of change to their roster sure to be imminent this off-season. Also, the status of Rip Hamilton returning is up in the air along with head coach Flip Saunders. At least the Motor City still has the Detroit Red Wings to make up for this year’s disappointment as they’re now up 3-1 in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals against the Pittsburgh Peguins and looking to close them out tonight… haha… sorry Dave.
For now, take solace in that you can still laugh at my sorry ass Knicks, who despite just recently hiring Mike D’Antoni as head coach are still the biggest disappoint league-wide much to my distain.
Anyway, back to the Lakers & Celtics: in the end what really matters to me are the jersey’s both teams will wear — I hope the Lakers don’t flaunt their white home uniforms over the traditional yellow ones, as those are always the best. But I wouldn’t mind seeing Boston sport their new green & gold road uniforms as those look sharp! Also, who do you think has the better cheerleading squad, the Laker Girls or the Celtic Dancers??? To close to call for me.

Lastly, let’s relive some classic Laker-Celtics NBA finals moments from yesteryear collected here.

1-After a great playoff season, this is what we end up with? I’ll tune back in next season. I have no interest in kobe or mr. highly overrated KG.
And the knicks??? I’m glad you got D’Antoni (who lucked into his only other coaching position) and not my beloved Bulls. anybody who accepts a job with a team that doesn’t “fit” his coaching, and a team that can’t clear cap, is not someone I want near my team in any situation. I’d rather have Doug Collins.
Oh and NHL, I work in it and will still say, let’s please refrain from mentioning the lower tier leagues when talking about the majors…LMAO!!!!!!
And like Zeke and Starbury next year…HOLLA!!!!!

The most Bizarro-World aspect of it all this time around is that the Lakers are mostly a bunch of white guys, and the Celtics are all Brothers. Like the earth’s been flipped upside-down…

Yeah, who would have thunk it that this time around the cast would be full of white lakes and black shamrocks.

This should be an exciting matchup. I think the Celtics want this more so should prevail. They’ve been on hiatus for 20 years! I’m looking forward to Kobe breaking down in tears when he loses.
