¡¡¡ Arriba España !!!

Apparently 44 years of frustration has finally washed away for the Spaniards as their talented national football team defeated a very good German national squad to claim the Euro2008 championship.
I watched the game with my Polish gal-pal Aga at an Irish pub near Leicester square. The place was JAM PACKED with spaniards dressed in ther national colors and throughout the match were frequent chants of “VIVA ESPAÑA”, “OLÉ, OLÉ, OLÉ”, and “GRA-C-IAS”. And of course there were a few German fans peppered into the crowd but they really had no reason Aga & I made informal bets on what the final score would be, she picked Germany 1-nil, and I picked Spain 3-1. The Spanish won the match in regular time 1-0. Great game, great crowd, and lots of fun.

After the match though I had to do a little face-off with the bar staff to not charge me for an order of food that never showed up at our table. How come the bar staff knew that they couldn’t find me for 1.5 hours but somehow thought I was still going to pay for a meal I didn’t get to eat?! The logic in London is amazing sometimes. But thankfully in the end, albeit begrudgingly so, they wrote off the food.
