Blasts from the Past

Kate Quale, Mark Beacock and Alex Bleasdale

Midwest connection? CHECK.

Arty-Farty interests? CHECK.

Randomly bumping into long lost friends in London? CHECK.

The world really is a small place at times. Last week while I was visiting the Tate Modern I randomly ran into Kate Quale, whom I haven’t seen since the glory of our intaglio days under the great Micheal Kareken at MCAD and it was quite a pleasant surprise, especially when I realized just how long it has really been since we saw each other last.

And as fortune would have it I got to meet up not only with her again but also Alex Bleasdale & Mark Beacock who are also part of the MCAD family via English-blood and I hardly even recognized the two British studs at first!

We just chilled last night over some pints and pub grub in East London, catching up on life, art, and everything in between. Kate & Alex still are living in Minneapolis but been galavanting around Europe on holiday, while Mark is kicking ass & taking names creatively over at Lean Mean Fighting Machine. A little later in the evening their homie Pete showed up on the scene, delivered a few witty one liners and then gave us each a ride home via his trusty road navigation “bitch” — however “she” didn’t see that roadblock coming at the end of my block. Not even close.

I’m glad that it turned out to be a surprise rather than a planned thing. Especially since it’s happened so far from Minnesota.
