Obama taps Biden for VP

Barack Obama has made an interesting pick for his Vice Presidential running mate in Joe Biden. Personally, I happen to think it’s a good choice for his campaign and it addresses an overall host of considerations heading into November’s U.S. Presidential election. Yet it also raises some valid questions about Obama’s campaign strategy.
For all you Obama supporters out there, does choosing Biden, a Washington insider for over 40+ years, undermine the spirit of “change” that he built his presidential campaign platform on?
Also, regarding all the Hillary Clinton supporters, do you think by not picking her as his running mate that Obama has hurt his chances to shore up a unified Democratic Party base? Would that ticket even have worked?

Lastly, Ralph Nader suggested earlier this week that Obama would be dumb to pick Biden and that the money pick would be Clinton to unify the party’s base and ensure a general election victory for the Democrats, do you agree with that? Is Nader election opinions even relevant anymore?

I’m actually pretty happy with this choice - but not so happy that the news services got to it before I got my text message! Oh well.
Biden’s probably the best choice he could have made. I don’t think it undermines his message of change at all. (Actually, Obama’s been undermining his own message with a few of his decisions lately, but that’s another discussion for another time.) Biden balances out the ticket with some much-needed experience.
As far as that whole Democratic party unity thing, I’m not worried at all. As petty and uninformed as most American voters are, I still find it hard to believe that many Clinton supporters would turn around and vote Republican out of spite or sour grapes. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong, but I’d still like to think that people take their future and government a little more seriously than that.

Biden vs. Oprah.
Was a close race - but it looks like a choice I could support.
And Clinton will invite herself into the cabinet anyway.

Brilliant choice.
Didn’t Biden say previously that BHO was not ready for the position, that he was not experienced enough? I think Mr. Big Ears really screwed up his chances by not choosing Billary. For once Nadar may be correct. I can’t believe I just wrote that but it’s true.

Thank fucking gawd that he didn’t go with Hillary. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Sniveling, scheming, two-talking, yucky ickface. Yuck. Stupid awful hair and stupid pants suits and patronizing dramatic facial expressions. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Women deserve so much more than to have that puke be their Jackie Robinson.
I guess Biden’s okay.

Who are Hillary supporters going to go with? McCain? Ignore her and her supporters. They aren’t going to affect anything. Hillary still is referring to Obama as her opponent, and she only cares about making it to the White House as the top dog, and I would never trust her if I was Obama.
As for Biden, the guy is a straight-shooter and is a pretty funny guy (it gets him in trouble every once in a while). But his most important skill is his combover skills. That dude was full-on bald around 10 years ago. Dream scenario. He meets with Donald Trump at some windy venue for whatever reason. Unintentional comedy is coming our way.

Al Gore?! Only if he grew out his beard again and laid off the Krispy Kremes.
And Dave, Joe Biden is from Scranton, PA so why you’s hatin’?
dave
Joe Biden? Hating? Have you ever looked at how screwed up Pennsylvania politics are? Rendell and the rest of these idiots are clueless unless it fills their pockets. They are great at profiteering from their thrones here. We have some of the highest property, income and secondary taxes in the country. Have you ever tried to drive through PA, the roads are constantly being “repaired”!! With what I am not sure, but it lasts about a year and a half. Public transit costs are out of control and subsidized by alcohol taxes (yeah that makes a lot of sense). And lately the state has added casinos to the mix. The big savior for property taxes. Unfortunately, they choose the casino operators by race and kick backs, not by experience or credibility. The new casino going in next to the Steelers Heinz field has been beset by delays and a curious change of operation after the original operator could not find financial backing for construction. Are yo fuking kidding me? When has a casino have ever had $$$ issues? I love the area but hate the old school politics. Rant over. Pissed off conservative going to hold onto his non existent gun and not go to church.

Point taken Dave.
And no I haven’t driven through PA in hard snow, but does my winter escapades in Bridgeport, CT count?
